Inpatient services
The inpatient physiotherapists provide post operative care and exercise instruction, which includes the provision of illustrated exercise booklets to patients who have undergone surgery in our hospital or day surgery. Our physiotherapists work closely with the surgeons and nurses, to ensure a team approach in the days following surgery.
Injury prevention
Our physiotherapists have designed injury prevention programmes to assist both sport professionals and recreational athletes to achieve optimum fitness safely.
Screening examinations
An examination is conducted by our SPORTSMED·SA physiotherapists to ascertain areas of weakness. We assess those parts of the body that are too stiff or tight, or where there is a lack of control or coordination. A remedial exercise programme is devised which is specific to the patient and their lifestyle.
Gym and rehabilitation
There are well equipped gyms at the SPORTSMED·SA Stepney and Morphett Vale branches where patients can rehabilitate or work on their fitness. The gyms are open for extended hours and have qualified fitness professionals providing a range of services to the general public and to patients.
Home based exercise programmes are designed for rehabilitation and include Pilates stability training with floor and ball exercises. We provide illustrated exercise booklets for programmes both at home and at the gym.
Occupational health
SPORTSMED·SA physiotherapy caters for the injured worker. An injury management plan is drawn up with specific and clear goals for both the worker and the employer.
