The Fellowship
Currently two fellowships are offered every 12 months commencing the 1st August each year. The supervising surgeons of the fellowship are:
- Dr Tony Spriggins & Dr Roger Paterson
- Dr Greg Keene, Dr Roger Oakeshott and Dr David Martin
Please note that there is no hand and elbow component involved in either of the fellowships.
Fellows may have an opportunity to view some shoulder procedures of interest in their own time, with the prior arrangement from the upper limb surgeons.
The salary offered is in accordance with the guidelines of the Department of Human Services of $70,553.00. $10,000 is withheld for evaluation payments based on performance and the completion of research as stipulated by the guidelines and policies of the fellowship program at SPORTSMED·SA.
The fellow must adhere to all regulations and guidelines as stipulated by the Medical Board of South Australia and the AOA and provide evidence of English language proficiency and primary source verification www.amc.org.au.
Approval of fellows is subject to attainment of Visa Subclass 457 from the Department of Immigration & Citizenship. Please refer to the Department of Immigration & Citizenship website regarding visa applications.
Overseas based Fellows must leave Australia on completion of the fellowship. This requirement must be guaranteed beforehand by the applicant appending his/her signature to the following statement, as per the AOA guidelines.
Accreditation
The Sports Surgery & Arthroplasty fellowship is accredited by the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
