Adelaide City Football Club
Adelaide City is South Australia’s most successful football club with a remarkable 17 championships and was a founding member of Australia’s National Soccer League (NSL). Now competing in the state’s National Premier League (NPL) competition, the club also boasts an impressive junior system and women’s team.
Our practitioners provide expert medical support including injury prevention, management, treatment and rehabilitation services to the renowned local club during its 2018 season. Both junior and senior players have priority access to a team of practitioners solely dedicated to the club along with our weekend injury clinic for any injuries sustained on match day that require immediate attention.
Adelaide University Soccer Club
Adelaide University Soccer Club is one of South Australia’s oldest and proudest football teams. The club has existed since 1936, providing football opportunities for men, women, junior girls and junior boys across more than 30 teams.
The prestigious club currently receives dedicated medical support and priority access to our range of services at sportsmed. The medical support and priority appointment service extends to players of all ages and grades of competition from juniors and amateurs right through to State League 2 team. Players, trainers and club medical staff on game day can also contact an on-call sportsmed practitioner to receive expert advice and address any urgent concerns.
Blitz Golf is a revolutionary tournament that comprises of four rounds within a half day with the blitzes (rounds) getting shorter as the stakes get higher! The event combines golf with a carnival type atmosphere that is exciting for players and spectators alike; and moves toward short-form sport which is becoming popular for event attendance and TV coverage.

Crocmedia – Footy SA
Crocmedia is a dynamic sports and entertainment business. They engage brands with fans across multiple platforms including radio, television, digital, stadium and events – reaching over 3 million people each week. One of their flagship programs is Footy SA which connects with the passionate footy audience. Footy SA features on Channel 9 every Sunday at 12:30pm (ACST) throughout the AFL season and is hosted by Port Adelaide Champion Kane Cornes and colourful Adelaide personality Stephen Rowe.

Port Adelaide Football Club
The Port Adelaide Football Club is widely recognised as the most successful senior football club, not only in South Australia but Australia-wide. The club’s senior team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), whilst its reserves and development teams (Port Adelaide Magpies) compete in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Port Adelaide is the oldest professional sporting club in South Australia and the fifth-oldest club in the AFL. The club has won 36 SANFL premierships and one AFL premiership in 2004.
sportsmed is Port Adelaide’s medical support team in both the AFL and SANFL. Our Doctors Dr Mark Fisher, Dr Damian Newberry and Dr Robert Buckley currently work with the club.
Roger Rasheed Sports Foundation
With an emphasis on enjoying sport and physical activity, the Roger Rasheed Sports Foundation (RRSF) exists to make potentially life-saving impacts on children in extreme disadvantaged communities. For them, the risk of taking the wrong path is always present. That is why the foundation believes in the medicine of sport and the difference it can make to children.
RRSF has a number of fundraising projects and events including the New York Marathon where over 50,000 runners from around the world participate. The foundation enters their own team every year with a commitment to raising money that is donated directly towards helping children in extreme disadvantaged communities. sportsmed is the official healthcare partner of the RRSF NYC Marathon team, providing expert advice and medical support to members.
South Australian Sports Medicine Assocation
SA Sports Medicine Association (SASMA) has provided the sport, physical activity and recreation community with expert information, training and advice for over fifty years. Through their multidisciplinary membership, SASMA provide advice on a diverse range of sport and exercise medicine issues.
We work closely with SASMA to provide education and training to sports trainers who assist at clubs, schools, national and international events. Education and training focuses on sports injury prevention and management.
Sturt Football Club
Nicknamed the Double Blues, Sturt Football Club competes in the SANFL and are the current reigning premiers. A proud club, Sturt has won a total of 15 premierships since their inception in 1901.
sportsmed is Sturt’s medical support team with our Orthopaedic Surgeons Dr Matthew Hutchinson, Dr David Martin, Dr Shahram Shahrokhi, Dr Andrew Saies and Dr Rob Wallace involved in the club. Our Doctor Dr Damian Newberry also provides support and advice to the club.
Tango Netball Club
Tango are a premier division netball club who have been servicing the north eastern and northern suburbs of metropolitan Adelaide for many years. The club fields teams in the Netball SA Premier League and the Adelaide Metropolitan Netball Division (AMND) competitions in the winter season at Priceline Stadium, Mile End, as well as squads in the South Australian Districts Netball Association (SADNA) competition at Golden Grove in winter and summer season.
Our practitioners currently lend their expertise to the club for the 2018 season by providing medical support including injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation services. Tango players have priority and on-call access to a team of practitioners solely dedicated to the club along with our weekend injury clinic for any injuries sustained on match day that require immediate attention.
Victor Harbor Football Club
The Victor Harbor Football Club have fielded teams since 1885 in conjunction with the Great Southern Football League. The Club currently has six teams competing every Saturday, drawing players from local schools, colleges and metropolitan Adelaide. Promoting the importance of fitness and lifestyle, Victor Harbor runs its football programs at both senior and junior levels.
Our team of orthopaedic surgeons currently consulting in Victor Harbor and Goolwa provide dedicated medical support including injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation services to the proud local club. At least one sportsmed surgeon is on-call, available to trainers and club medical staff to contact on game day, while all Kangaroo members will have priority access to our visiting team of specialists in Victor Harbor and Goolwa.
West Adelaide Football Club
A club with a colourful history, West Adelaide was formed in 1892 wearing red, white and blue before switching to the old Adelaide Football club colours of red and black when it joined the South Australian Football Association in 1897. Since the inception of the SANFL, the club has won nine premierships and produced a number of AFL superstars including Brownlow Medallists Bernie Smith, Adam Cooney and Mark Ricciuto.
sportsmed is currently the Bloods’ medical support team with our Physiotherapist Brendan O’Leary, Dr Angela Moran and Exercise Physiologist Matt Muir providing services to the club.
