Our internationally known and respected foot and ankle surgeon, Dr James Clayton, has made the decision to retire from private clinical practice, finishing at sportsmed recently in December 2019.

Dr Clayton was with us for 10 years and has provided a significant contribution to the business as a recognised authority in his field of expertise, and more specifically, his national leadership in keyhole bunion surgery. He has established a foot and ankle sub-specialty, the legacy of which will continue at sportsmed for many years to come.
To ensure our patients maintain the best foot and ankle care and experience here at sportsmed, Dr Clayton has entrusted Dr Anthony Nguyen with the continuation of his private practice.

Dr Nguyen exclusively operates on conditions of the foot and ankle, having completed sub-speciality fellowship training in London at the prestigious Fortius Clinic, where the focus of his work was the management of sports injuries in the high-level athlete, as well as keyhole bunion surgery.

He has the full endorsement and confidence of Dr Clayton, having worked closely with him over the last year; in Dr Clayton’s words: “Apart from being a highly skilled foot and ankle surgeon of exemplary character and judgement, Anthony is very easy to get along with and down to earth. I leave sportsmed with the complete surety of mind that patients will continue to experience wonderful foot and ankle care.”

Dr Nguyen has been with sportsmed for the past 12 months and currently has a busy foot and ankle practice here at sportsmed (previously alongside Dr Clayton) but has reduced his public work to make extra consulting and theatre time available for our private patients.

On behalf of the board, shareholders, and all staff here at sportsmed, we would like to thank Dr Clayton for his unwavering passion and dedication, and wish him every success in his future endeavours.
