We’ve done it again! In another Australian first, sportsmed has performed the first CORI System total knee replacement procedure, using next generation robotics platform, the CORI Surgical System.

The introduction of the CORI Surgical System is the latest in a stellar line of surgical innovations in sportsmed’s 32-year history. The first procedure was led by Hip and Knee Surgeon Dr Tony Spriggins in June 2021.

The CORI Surgical System can be used for both total and partial knee replacement procedures with your orthopaedic surgeon using computer assistance to collect the unique shape and motion of your knee to virtually plan the procedure. Robotic assistance is then used by your surgeon to perform the procedure.

A number of sportsmed knee surgeons are trained to use the CORI Surgical System. It is now available to patients at sportsmed’s Orthopaedic Hospital. For more information, you can download the Robotics-assisted partial and total knee replacement patient’s guides here.

Patients who are interested in the CORI Surgical System and whether they are suitable for treatment, can contact sportsmed Orthopaedics on 08 8362 7788.
