David Martin final day

Dr David Martin OAM farewelled

In a bittersweet announcement, on Monday 17 January we farewelled Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr David Martin OAM as he commenced his planned retirement from private practice at sportsmed.

We are saddened to see Dr Martin depart but it is an exciting new chapter for him as he moves into senior educational and board roles in the broader community.

Dr Martin has been an integral member of our sportsmed team, giving so much to our organisation for more than 25 years.

We love Dr Martin’s passion for everything he does. We note his huge commitment and loyalty to Sturt Football Club over the years being the medical officer for them and gaining a lifetime membership with the club for his services.

In his personal life as an avid gardener and green thumb, David absolutely cherishes his gorgeous family and is looking forward to being able to spend more time and travelling with them when border restrictions ease.

He loves his sports (cricket, footy and basketball), and good food and wine, of course!

Dr Martin’s orthopaedic practice will be handed over to two excellent surgeons joining sportsmed in mid-2022.

In the meantime, Dr Martin’s current sportsmed orthopaedic colleagues are here to continue his high level of quality care for his patients. We wish Dr David Martin every success in the next chapter of his life!

Dr Martin’s special interests included:

  • Sports injuries
  • Shoulder arthroscopy and reconstruction
  • Knee arthroplasty, arthroscopy and reconstruction
  • Ankle arthroscopy and reconstruction.

  1. Thanks Doc for your excellent, neat and painless…well relatively…
work you performed on both of my shoulders.
The first in 2010 and the second in 2015.
With your honest, easy going and relaxed approach, it made the whole experience less stressful, more comfortable and very successful
You are my third doctor to retire in recent months so all the best for your future and try to enjoy every minute of it….I know I am.
    Cheers Dale
