Founding Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Greg Keene was inspired to build a centre of excellence for the treatment and care of sport injuries, and approached fellow Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Roger Paterson, along with Sports Physiotherapist Susan Everett to join him in establishing SPORTSMEDĀ·SA. Other sports medicine professionals perceived to be the best in their fields were recruited for their skills, ambition and commitment to the vision.
Over a stellar history, spanning more than 30 years, Dr Keene has striven to deliver exceptional patient care through a commitment to quality and innovation. His name is synonymous with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and he has treated thousands of sports injuries of the knee over his career.
He enjoys the responsibility of helping people of all ages with their knee problems, including many state, national, international and Olympic athletes. He is proud to have treated many footballers from our state’s AFL teams. Dr Keene has been involved in knee surgery advances his whole career and has delivered invited lectures on various knee surgery topics in 27 countries. He has received many awards for his work including honorary membership of the Arthroscopy Association of North America; an award that is rarely given to non-Americans.
Dr Keene has commenced his planned retirement from private practice at sportsmed. Itās thanks to his vision and determination 33 years ago that sportsmed has grown into the world-class clinic and hospital it is today.
Our team of experienced knee surgeons will continue to provide a high level of quality care for sportsmed patients.
