Clinic closure – National Day of Mourning
Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and in observance of the National Day of Mourning, sportsmed clinics will be closed and elective surgery cancelled on Thursday 22 September.

Time for tea(l), supporting Ovarian Cancer Awareness month
Last week, our hospital and orthopaedics clinic team wore teal-coloured scrubs in support of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
The team put on a lovely and Covid-safe Morning ‘Teal Tea’ stall on Friday 25th February with delicious cakes and treats in a fundraiser for Ovarian Cancer Australia, in memory of our colleague Jo Clark.

Independent audit shows low infection rate for joint replacements at sportsmed
An independent audit by the Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry has confirmed that sportsmed has an extremely low revision surgery rate for infection of joint replacements compared to the national average of all other hospitals. The audit covered 19223 joint replacement procedures performed at sportsmed over 20 years from January 1999 to February 2019.

The results were recorded from Medibank’s Patient Reported Experience Survey (PREMs) which collected information from its members who have had surgery and experienced an overnight stay in a hospital.
